Whole Life Carbon

Diagram Illustration

Design for a diagram detailing the whole life carbon process whereby construction materials can be reused / recycled. Collaborating with three other designers, I was primarily responsible for the illustrations to support the information.

Supporting the technical information

Each illustration section, highlighted with different colour schemes, represents a stage of the process, supporting the technical information displayed. For example, the “In-Use” section (dark blue + pink) highlighted the buildings being used and occupied before transitioning into the next set of illustrations. A style guide was also created in case the team wanted to use this style of illustration again.

Understanding the process

Before creating the illustrations, I began by looking at and gaining an understanding of the process as a whole. This informed the intent and direction of my first concepts alongside keeping me anchored on the goals of the brief. Feedback and notes were also gathered during this process in order to align my design with other parts of the project.
